How It Works
There is a universal life energy called Chi or Qi present in every living creature. This energy circulates throughout the body along specific pathways called meridians. As long as this energy flows freely throughout the meridians, health is maintained, but once the flow of energy is blocked, the system is disrupted and pain and illness occur. Imagine rivers that flood and cause disasters or an electrical grid short-circuiting that causes blackouts. Acupuncture works to “re-program” and restore normal functions by stimulating certain points on the meridians in order to free up the Qi energy. Learn more about Qi by viewing the What is Qi? page.
Depending on the desired therapeutic effect and point location, acupuncture needles may be simply touched to the skin, very shallowly inserted, or inserted an inch or more deep. Acupuncture needles are hair fine and flexible and are often painless upon insertion.
YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT
A First office call for an individual session includes:
- BioMeridian Analysis
- Nutritional Deficiency Screening and Nutritional Assessment
- A traditional Chinese Tongue and Pulse assessment
Diagnoses and treatment may include:
- Acupuncture
- Acutonics® Sound Healing
- Moxibustion
- Cupping
- Gua Sha
- Massage
At your follow up visit you will receive a report of findings that will summarize the information gathered and make recommendations for your personalized wellness plan. Your plan will include lifestyle and nutritional guidelines, supplement recommendations, and your recommended schedule of treatments to see you through to wellness.
I also provides acupuncture in the community clinic setting.

If you have insurance benefits that cover acupuncture and I am a preferred provider, insurance benefits can be billed for individual sessions. Please contact your insurance provider to clarify your benefits.
